Nagpur, the 114th largest city in world, and the 143rd largest urban area in world in terms of population was founded in 18th Century by Bhakt Buland a Gond Prince of Deogad. It is also the 13th largest urban conglomeration in India.

Nagpur City is an important Scientific Research centre of India and is headquarters of numerous scientific establishments such as National Bureau of Soil Survey and Land Use Planning, Central Institute of Cotton Research (CICR), National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI) and more. Nagpur also houses some of Indian Army's important offices and other establishments.

Fast emerging as an important commercial hub, Nagpur City is coming up with its own SEZ the MIHAN - Multi-modal International Cargo Hub and Airport which is India's biggest economic development project in terms of investment. Nagpur has Dragon Temple which is a Buddhist shrine housing a statue of Lord Buddha and is great place for meditation. Around Nagpur are two National Parks - The Pench National Park & Navegaon National Park.
